Randolph Athletics is excited to welcome Brytt Davidson as the new Head Coach of the Girls Wrestling Team. A 2002 Randolph graduate, Davidson’s connection to the school spans an impressive 33 years, having been affiliated with Randolph as a student, alum, teacher, and parent. Now entering her third year teaching Upper School French, Davidson is thrilled to add this new chapter to her long-standing history with the school.
Davidson brings a wealth of experience to the role. Before transitioning into education, she coached Kids CrossFit and earned her Level 2 CrossFit certification. In addition to over a decade of personal training, Davidson’s background includes serving as a Special Agent with the State Department, where she trained others in defensive tactics rooted in jiu-jitsu. Last year, Davidson worked closely with both the boys and girls wrestling teams, and it was through this experience that she felt compelled to take on the role of Head Coach for the girls team.
“I want to promote a sport that isn’t traditionally popular among females,” Davidson says. “Wrestling is tough, but I want to show girls that it’s possible to be both feminine and strong. I also want to recruit women to the sport, empowering them with the ability to defend themselves if the need arises.”
As she steps into her new role, Davidson’s primary focus will be on the overall health and wellness of her athletes. “Good nutrition, adequate rest, and conditioning will always be my top priorities,” she explains. “But as a teacher, I also expect good grades. Balance is key.”
Davidson acknowledges the foundation laid by last year’s lone female wrestler, Sofie Bynum, and is eager to build on the progress they made together. “Sofie is a naturally tenacious athlete,” Davidson says. “I hope to continue building her confidence and help her step forward as a leader for the other girls on the team. Last year, I was concerned about even having a girls wrestling team, but with Sofie’s help, we made it work. This year, I’m looking forward to leading a stronger, more confident team.” Sofie Bynum is Randolph’s first female wrestler to ever participate.
Randolph Athletic Director Mike Morris shares his excitement for Davidson’s new role: “Brytt’s dedication to Randolph and her experience both on and off the mat make her an exceptional fit to lead our girls wrestling program. We are confident that under her guidance, the team will continue to grow and thrive.”
