The Randolph Lady Raiders concluded their basketball season with heads held high. While our journey came to a close in the Sub-Regional Round of 32 against the formidable Good Hope, our achievements throughout the season reflect the amount of dedication and time that was put into by the girls.
One of the defining moments of our season was our victory over West Limestone in the first round of the area tournament, setting the stage for a showdown against St. John Paul II for the area championship. Though we fell short in a closely contested match, losing 33-36, our performance throughout the tournament demonstrated the tenacity and skill of our players.
This season marked a significant milestone for the Lady Raiders, as we secured the most area wins since the 2014-2015 season—a testament to the commitment from the girls who continue to show up each and every day. Our success was fueled by a balanced and dynamic approach, with contributions coming from various players throughout the roster.
Senior Ashlyn Hafley led the charge with an exceptional performance, showcasing her skills on both ends of the court. Her impressive stat line—412 points, 219 rebounds, and 90 blocks—speaks volumes about her impact on the game. Hafley leaves behind a legacy as one of the greatest rebounders in Randolph history, with a remarkable 743 career boards.
Senior Kelis Massey and Junior Madison Moore also made significant contributions to our team's success as well. Massey's 225 points and Moore's 167 points and 169 rebounds were a big factor.
Following the Christmas break, the Lady Raiders ignited their season with a strategic shift to a full-court pressure defense—a game-changer that set us up for success and a postseason run. Seniors Emma Grace Reeves, along with Junior Jewel McGee and Sophomore Anne Fowlkes Schreeder, played pivotal roles in executing this strategy effectively. As a result, our defense held strong, averaging only 43.4 points per game allowed.
As we bid farewell to our three seniors—Ashlyn Hafley, Kelis Massey, and Emma Grace Reeves—we extend our deepest gratitude for their unwavering commitment and leadership throughout the season. Their contributions both on and off the court have left an indelible mark on our program, inspiring future generations of Lady Raiders.
Head Coach Zac Barringer had this to say about the season, "We didn't get the number of wins we wanted, but our girls competed every single night. When we stepped on the floor, our girls believed we had a chance to get a win. I am so proud of them for that. We were a handful of points away from being an 18-win team. I am thankful for these girls who continued to push through even when days got hard. Our basketball program made a big step and is continuing to improve after year 2. I am looking forward to continuing to take that step as we get ready to begin preparations for next season."
