The Randolph Raiders Varsity and Junior Varsity Boys Cross Country teams kicked off their 2024 season with a strong performance at the “Bob Jones First Chance Friendly 2 Miler” in Madison, Alabama. The first race of the day was the Varsity Boys’ 2-mile event, and the Raiders made a notable impression.

Leading the charge for Randolph was Lucas Israel, who finished first for his team and 10th overall with a time of 10:56. His performance earned him an award and set a high standard for the rest of the season. The Varsity Boys team finished 2nd in the team competition, demonstrating their competitive spirit and cohesion. Bob Jones claimed the team victory with 43 points, but Randolph was close behind with 60 points.

The team’s success was further highlighted by strong finishes from Keaton Schroer, Eli de Oliveira, Wick Pfitzer, and Andrew Walker, who completed the top five for Randolph. Their collective effort contributed to a solid start for the Raiders as they aim for a successful season.

The Raiders will look to build on this performance as they prepare for their next challenge at the “City Auto Memphis Twilight Invitational” on August 31 in Memphis, Tennessee. The racing will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Middle School Girls, but the Varsity Boys will be among those eager to continue their strong start.
