As the Randolph Raiders Girls Soccer team kicks off the 2025 season, there’s a renewed sense of excitement and determination buzzing around the program. Led by Head Coach Kevin Shivers, now in his second season at the helm, and bolstered by the return of Coach Katie Gallagher to the coaching staff, the Raiders are poised to make waves on both the Varsity and JV levels.
“We’re thrilled to be back on the field with this group,” said Coach Shivers. “There’s a great mix of experience, leadership, and young talent that’s hungry to prove themselves. The energy at training has been fantastic.”
Coach Katie Gallagher’s return to Randolph is one of the most exciting storylines heading into the season. Having previously coached within the program, her familiarity with the school culture and passion for the game make her a perfect fit.
“Having Katie back feels like welcoming family,” Coach Shivers shared. “She’s competitive, knowledgeable, and approachable. She’s already built strong connections with the players, and her impact is undeniable.”
The Varsity squad is loaded with upperclassmen. This top-heavy roster includes standout seniors and juniors eager to leave their mark.
Asha Arora (#9, Junior, Forward): Fresh off an impressive club season, Asha is determined to surpass her goal tally from last year, where she led the team in scoring. “Asha’s hunger to improve is inspiring,” noted Shivers. “She’s a constant threat up front.”
Ellie Ward (#10, Senior, Midfielder): A key figure in the midfield, Ellie’s club team recently qualified for nationals. “Ellie wants to finish her Randolph career on a high note,” said Shivers. “Her vision and leadership in the midfield are critical for us.”
Ella Minton (#7, Senior, Forward/Defender): Known as the fastest player at Randolph, Ella has been a defensive stalwart. But could this be the season she’s unleashed in an attacking role? “Her speed is a game-changer,” teased Shivers.
Ellie Heilman (#18, Senior, Midfielder): A quiet leader with outstanding technical ability, Ellie’s reliability and skill make her indispensable.
Jane Connell (#17, Junior, Defender): A clever defender who loves to push forward and contribute to the attack, adding versatility to the backline.
Caroline Wyatt (#24, Freshman, Midfielder/Forward): Despite her youth, Caroline has been on varsity since middle school. “She’s grown tremendously,” said Shivers. “This could be her breakout year.”
JV Outlook: Rising Stars on the Horizon
The JV squad showcases a dynamic mix of Upper and Middle School players, including a promising crop of 7th and 8th graders. Coach Shivers is excited about the team’s growth potential.
Maggie Cooper (#2, 8th Grade, Defender): Last year’s JV captain, Maggie anchors the defense with strength and composure. “She’s a rock at the back,” said Shivers.
Lexi Durbin (#5, 7th Grade, Forward): Small in stature but big in talent, Lexi’s agility and skill make her a nightmare for defenders. “She’s fearless,” praised Shivers.
Lane Wells (#10, 8th Grade, Forward): Lane gained valuable varsity experience last season, even scoring a goal. “She’s got that ‘it’ factor,” noted Shivers.
Greer Baker (#1, 8th Grade, Goalkeeper): A vocal leader and talented shot-stopper, Greer’s presence in goal is a major asset. “She’s not just a great keeper; she lifts her teammates with her energy,” said Shivers.
The Raiders enter a new area this season, featuring both fresh and familiar faces. They’ll face Jemison and Lee, teams they haven’t played in some time, while reigniting rivalries with Hazel Green and Buckhorn.
“There’s definitely a bit of extra focus on Buckhorn after last year’s postseason loss,” admitted Shivers. “But every game matters. Our players are locked in and ready for the challenge.”
“Our goal is to compete at the highest level every time we step on the field,” said Shivers. “But beyond the wins and losses, we’re building a culture of resilience, teamwork, and pride in wearing the Randolph jersey.”
Make plans to see the Raiders kick off their season this Friday Night as they host Grissom at SportsMed Field. JV will play at 5:00pm with Varsity starting at 7:00pm.
