The Randolph Raiders Middle School Volleyball teams are eager to make their mark as they enter the County Tournament today, held at Westminster Christian Academy. It has been 11 years since the Raiders last won the tournament in 2013, and both the A and B teams are determined to end that drought. With A-Team securing the #2 seed and B-Team the #3 seed, both teams are primed for a deep run.
First round action begins today as the B-Team will play #2 Central at 4:00pm while A-Team will play the winner of #3 New Hope/#6 Westminster tonight at 6:00pm.
This season has been special for both teams, with the A-Team boasting a near-perfect record of 8-2 in the county. The development and improvement of each player have been a highlight, with the teams growing stronger both individually and collectively. The B-Team’s Julianne Jones, known for her intensity as a setter, has been a consistent leader on the court, while A-Team’s Mary Emens Parker and Lauren Yates have been dominant, especially in their attacking play. Moments like Clara Ross stepping in to serve an ace against Central show how deep both teams are, with multiple players stepping up when needed.
As the County Tournament gets underway, the outlook is positive for both teams. Coaches and players have their sights set on championship berths. Assistant Coach Gavin Ennis expressed his admiration for the players' work ethic and support for one another, saying, “I hope my daughter learns to work hard and support those around her like many of our players do.”
The Championship for both divisions will be Friday at Westminster Christian with the B-Team starting at 4:00pm and A-Team starting at 5:00pm.
