As the Randolph Raiders Volleyball team gears up for the 2024 season, excitement is in the air as they embark on a new chapter. With Head Coach Bri Turner entering her second year at the helm, the Raiders are primed for success in their new area: JP2, Madison Academy, and West Limestone.

The Raiders finished strong last season but faced a significant transition this offseason after losing four key seniors. Despite those losses, Coach Turner is optimistic about her new team. “These girls have worked hard the whole summer in the weight room and in the gym. I am so excited to get the season started to show al their hard work. Go Raiders!”

New Faces

One of the most exciting things each offseason is the emergence of young talent and fresh faces. This offseason was no different for the Raiders. They have three new additions to the varsity quad. Freshman Katie Bird Smith, setter, and Jade Trownsell, a right-side hitter, have already made their presence felt in summer workouts. Additionally, 8th Grader Kaitlyn Phillipe has stepped in a defensive specialist by showing maturity beyond her years. These three have injected fresh energy into the team and are expected to play crucial roles as the season progresses.

Leaders Poised for Breakout Seasons

While the team has welcomed new faces, the Raiders will rely heavy on returning players Scarlett Smith James and Cara DeJesus. Both middles were standout performers last year both at the net. Coach Turner praised their leadership during the offseason and expects both things from them this year on offense and defense.

Keys to Success

For Randolph to make a deep run this season, they will need to their chemistry to be strong. Coach Turner has been preaching how important chemistry is as it relates to success with returning leaders and incoming players. If the summer was any indication of what to expect for the season, things are looking bright for these ladies.
