In the first round of the Area Tournament the Girls' Varsity Basketball team outlasted the West Limestone Wildcats 69-51 in a tough, hard-fought Round 1 game.
The Raiders trailed 13-14 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Wildcats 22-7 in the second quarter and went into the half with a 35-21 lead. The Raiders would not give up the lead as they scored 34 second half points to secure the Round 1 victory.
The Raiders were led by Seniors Ashlyn Hafley, 30 points, and Kelis Massey, 11 points. Madison Moore added 11 points and Jewel McGee contributed 9 points.
The Raiders advance to the Area Championship game against St. John Paul II on Wednesday, February 7 at 6:00pm on the campus of St. John Paul II. The Raiders are looking to win the Girls' Area Championship for the first time since 1986.
