As wrestling season gets underway, we had a chance to catch up with first-year head coach, Matthew Stroe. With no wrestling team last year, Coach Stroe is looking forward to the ability to create a wrestling culture here at Randolph.

Coach Stroe had this to say about the season, “I have a great coaching staff, that truly loves being on the mat with our wrestlers and they have helped me through the reboot of the wrestling program here at Randolph. I would love to say I want to win every dual and tournament we enter, but that is not realistic this year. What I want from our wrestlers is for all of them to build a no quit mentality and a toughness that is second to none.”

The Raider wrestling team is a very young team. 12 out of the 19 wrestlers are 9th grade and below. There are only a few wrestlers with any on the mat experience, but they have stepped up and have taken on their appropriate roles as leaders of this team. They know what it takes to get on the mat and perform at a high level of intensity. They bring that with them to our practices and will carry that over to our tournaments and the regular season.

These student-athletes have an opportunity to build something special. They have the ability to establish the Randolph wrestling culture, one which will be the foundation for years to come.
