Andrew Hinson Commits to Play Golf for The University of Alabama

After visits to college golf programs and campuses across the country, Andrew Hinson, a Junior at Randolph School, has announced his commitment to play for The University of Alabama and Coach Jay Seawell. In the Class of 2025, Hinson is currently nationally ranked #11 by Rolex American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and #13 by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Hinson started golf late compared to many others who also play the game at this elite level. After having success in basketball and baseball throughout his youth, he transitioned to golf in 2020 at the age of 13 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and not being able to play team sports during that time, and he has never looked back. “Andrew is one of the most dedicated and committed athletes that I have ever been around”, says Randolph Golf Coach Mike Morris. “His work ethic is very high and he maintains the same strong mental approach and positive attitude every day. Andrew has earned all the recognition he is receiving and I believe the best is yet to come.”

Although many who know Hinson as a lifelong Alabama sports fan will assume it was an easy choice for him to play for the Crimson Tide, the decision was much harder than expected. Hinson strongly considered Vanderbilt, Auburn, Oklahoma, and Georgia Tech. “These schools all have strong golf programs with great coaches also,” Hinson states, “but in the end, I knew that Alabama and Coach Seawell would be the best fit for me. I appreciate this opportunity from Coach Seawell and I am thankful for my family and friends and their continued support. Roll Tide”
