Head Coach Kevin Shivers kept it straight forward when asked what was needed for another Area Championship. "It's very simple: our remaining area games are crucial, must-win contests."
By beating Buckhorn last week, the Raiders have all but secured a berth in the playoffs. The Raider girls soccer team is confident in securing victories against remaining Area foes Lee and Jemison. Thursday's victory against Lee on Senior Night was a great way to honor the ten members of the talented class of 2026.
But it is today's trip to Hazel Green that looks like it will decide the Area Championship. The Raiders hold the edge over the Trojans based on the strength of their close penalty kick victory back in late February. Now the Raiders travel to Hazel Green for the reverse fixture on Friday. Only a Randolph win will secure top spot in Area 16 and the home field advantage in sub-state post-season play that comes with it.
Coach Shivers is hoping for a strong away presence in the stands on Friday adding: "We need the 12th man to show up and show up loud on Friday to help us bring home our fourth straight Area crown."
