This year the Randolph Wrestling Team returned to the mat for a successful 2023-2024 season. This year we had 25 wrestlers participate, which was a welcomed surprise, 17 of those were in High School. We also had our first 2 female wrestlers.
We had two wrestlers finish with over 10 wins on the season and had a total of 11 top five placers at invitationals. We also had a 6th place finisher at the Super Sectionals.
Will Crocker- 11 wins, 6th place at Super Sectionals, 3rd place Rocket City Invitational
Sofie Bynum- 11 wins, top 5 placer at 4 invitationals, highest placement being 2nd at New Years Bash
Sofie is the 1st Varsity Female wrestler to break 10 wins, currently the holder of the most wins by a female Randolph Wrestler, compete in the State Wrestling Championships, and place in the top five at 4 Varsity Invitationals.
Liam Tomalty- Placed 3rd at the Grissom Invitational and 5th at the Rocket City Invitational
Carter Freeman- Placed 1st at the Fall Brawl Invitational
AJ Goens- Placed 2nd at the Arab JV Invitational
Weitian Zhang- Placed 2nd at the Fall Brawl Invitational
The Randolph Boys wrestled in a total of 11 Invitationals, 1 Tri-match, and Super Sectionals
The Randolph Girls wrestled in a total of 4 invitationals, 1 Quad-match, and the State tournament.
We had 61 total wins this year and we look to break 100 total wins next year.
Next year we will have 16 High School Wrestlers. (7 Jrs., 7 So., 2 Fr.)
Next year we will have 5 returning Middle School Wrestlers. (5 8th graders)
With the Upper Classmen we have in place, the foundation for the future of Randolph Wrestling has been laid and is in good hands. They are a great group of young student athletes and will continue to make me, my fellow coaches, and the Randolph Community proud. There is a lot of talent amongst this young team, and we have the utmost confidence that we will have more than one state placer next year. The excitement surrounding this group of Randolph Wrestlers is electric and we look forward to setting new personal and school records next year.
